The Times-News has been the weekly source of news for the McGehee-Dermott area for almost one hundred years. It remains one of the only family owned weekly newspapers in southeast Arkansas.
Our office hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. (Closed for lunch from 12:00p.m. to 1:00p.m.) Open Fridays from 9:00a.m. to 12:00p.m.
The Times-News is published each Wednesday. The deadline for submitting advertising is noon on Tuesdays. The deadline for submitting copy is noon on Mondays.
The Shoppers Guide is delivered on Saturdays. The deadline for submitting advertising is noon on Mondays.
WEDDING, ENGAGEMENT, OBITUARY, & BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT POLICY
There is no fee for wedding or engagement submissions we consider to be of average length. Average length usually consists of no more than one 8.5x11 single-spaced typed page. For weddings of excessive length, there will be a minimum charge of $50. Weddings may be run exactly as submitted at a rate of $5 per column inch. There is no charge for photos with engagements or weddings. Wedding submissions must be received by the Times-News office within 90 days of the date of the wedding ceremony. Submissions received after the 90-day deadline will not be considered for publication.
There is a minimum $35 fee for obituaries with standard information. For obituaries with information we do not typically print, such as names of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, and pallbearers, there will be an additional per word fee.
There is no charge for standard birth announcements with information typically printed including the names of parents and grandparents. For birth announcements of excessive length or to include a photo with the announcement, there is a fee of $30.
